Weight Loss New Year’s Resolution Plan, Day 3: Make It Work*
I hope you’ve had a chance to think about being kinder to yourself from Day 1 and having a list of reasons why you want to lose weight from Day 2. Okay, then, now it’s time to set yourself up for success. I ask you to do two things: make yourself a promise, and don’t ambush yourself.
Make Yourself a Promise
Please don’t say that you’ll try to exercise today. You know that seven million things will come up to mean you “don’t have time” to exercise today. Make a commitment! Maybe that commitment will be just ten minutes of walking, but dammit, you’re going to make that a priority!
Don’t Ambush Yourself
Cookies are my drug of choice. If they are in my house, there is always a reason I “deserve” to eat them. So I know I can’t have cookies in the house. Period. That’s easy for me – I live alone. You may have to negotiate with other household members. Tell them what you want and that it’s important to you – and then see what you can work out.
All of this is part of the same thing that I talked about on Day 1 – make a resolution to take care of yourself, to be kind to yourself, and to be clear that you deserve to make these changes.
